SPRING 2010
We hope that everyone enjoyed the holiday season and with the New Year upon us we have many exciting things to update you on. Last winter's heavy snow brought down the awning and brick work on the front of the store. The restoration of the brick work has finally been completed and we are now looking forward to our new awning being installed. Inside we have installed new floors and new lighting which really brightens everything up, even on dark days. This past fall our long time associate, Lynda, left us to move on to new career opportunities. We then found ourselves on the hunt for a new sales person. The search was long and hard but we feel we have made a wonderful choice and hope you will all welcome Gail to our store. Gail has been working very hard to learn everything quickly so that she can service our clients with the care and knowledge that we offer everyone. Monica continues to work with us part time and the rest of the time she is busy being a soccer mom for both her kids. Debbie got the dreaded ‘H1N1 flu’ this fall and had barely recovered from this when our mom had hip replacement surgery. Debbie and I were both helping our mom until I came down with a bad cold that no one wanted me to share. This left all of our mom's care and assistance up to Debbie. Then Debbie's husband had cataract surgery, so needless to say Debbie has been busy as the sole chauffeur and caregiver for the past month. (All while working and trying to get ready for Christmas.) I am finally over the worst of my cold now. (Just in time for basketball season to start for my daughter Amy.) I can’t believe Amy will be graduating this year and then heading off to university in the fall. My eldest, Melissa, will be coming home from Memorial University for at least 3 months this spring and we are all looking forward to this immensely. For many of us, we are now planning how we will manage our work and driving during the Olympics. Some of you will be looking forward to all the fun and fanfare the games will bring while others will be trying to figure out how to work around them. In any case we might as well try to enjoy this ‘one time’ event while it is here. Looking forward, we now want to entice you with what is new and inspiring for spring and summer 2010. Read on for more info and we look forward to seeing you soon........Dawn

TRIED & TRUE
After a long winter of dark and dreary days, and a lot of dark colours in our wardrobe, spring brings a breath of fresh air and colour. Lots and lots of colour. Thank goodness bright colours are key for your spring wardrobe. Not only is Cafe au Lait offering hot pinks, lime, yellow, and tangerines, Cafe au Lait is also offering new styles of tops to go with their classic pull-on pant and co-ordinating jacket.
Three seasons and still going strong, Columbia Sportswear offers a huge range of items including shorts, capris, t-shirts and blouses. This season they also have casual summer dresses. Columbia Sportswear offers very competitive pricing, good fit and a younger, casual dressing style. For spring and summer we have added some co-ordinating Columbia hats and tote bags to complete your ensemble.
For the past two summers we have had very popular wind breakers from Adorable Junior. These light weight, lined, zip front jackets were very popular and we sold out of them before the spring/summer season was even upon us. For spring 2010 we have ordered even more so that hopefully everyone who wants one will get one. The ever popular apple green colour will be available along with yellow, navy and slate. If this sounds like something you may be interested in please let us know and we will contact you as soon as they arrive. Also available from Adorable Junior this season is a car length rain coat in a vibrant red.
In the winter of 2008 we had great quilted vests from Lana Lee. These vests came in a variety of colours and sold out quickly. We searched for similar vests for the fall of 2009 but were unsuccessful. This spring however, Lana Lee has come through for us, offering a light weight vest in aloe green, hibiscus, sea blue, red or black. These light weight vests are great layering pieces and well suited to our mild spring temperatures.
For fall ’09 we brought in pants by Simon Chang. The Simon Chang dress slacks are available in regular and petite lengths in either navy or black. These pants are fitting very well and we will continue to carry them for spring. This summer we will also be receiving an assortment of capris, tops and a jacket by Simon Chang to complete yourSimon Chang collection.
WHAT’S NEW
PyLyse is a new line of activewear offering a fresh, stylish look made from a ‘functional stretch fabric’. PyLyse activewear has crop pants, hoody jackets, and a chevron nylon jacket. All designed for the woman that wants to look good and feel comfortable while exercising or on the go. This line will be a nice addition to our activewear collection.
Rainbow Garments is providing a soft feminine look in their two piece blouse sets. Each blouse has a soft pink or yellow floral print, mixed polka dots or a more traditional black and white print. Each of these blouses comes with a co-ordinating cami, at very reasonable prices.
Everywhere we looked this spring we saw sweaters. Open crochet knits, twin sets etc. all in bright fresh colours. Sweaters are a great way to transition from winter to spring and update your favourite pair of jeans, capris or slacks. Watch for these as they are sure to go quickly.
You will also see Jones New York Sport in the store this spring. Jones has lowered their prices but not the quality. Beautiful blouses in bright floral prints, solid tees and tanks in lime green, royal blue and pinks. For a dressier look, try the Jones New York Signaturecollection. This collection offers soft cotton lawn or linen skirts, jackets, blouses, and crop pants. Jones Signature even offers some sleeveless dresses for the nice weather that is just around the corner. If you don't like sleeveless don't despair. You can always top off one of these great dresses with a little cardigan from our selection of twin-sets.
